Wandering Tattler (Tringa incana) is a spring and fall migrant seen on the Washington coast and occasionally in Puget Sound. I found this one while kayaking in the San Juan Islands a few years ago. Now that it's September, I'll be looking for these seasonal visitors again. They have a comical bouncy walk as they forage!

It's peep fall migration, better known a shorebird fall migration.
Which means I spend hours poring over photos of shorebirds in dull fall plumage, mumbling to myself, which bird is this?
For fellow birders, I believe this is a Least Sandpiper. Seen on the southwestern Lake Erie shore yesterday. Small, short dark bill, and more brown than gray.
Did I identify correctly?

A calm Gulf of Mexico with barely a ripple greeted us this evening as we made our way to the beach for sunset. Seagulls & a couple of shorebirds had gathered along the shoreline to relax at the end of the day. Taken right after sunset which often sees the best color.
