I *will* unveil my new #macOS app in the next 5 days, come hell or high water. I need to make time to build its launch site! (I know I made the same plan a week ago, but I underestimated the time it would take me to wrestle AppIntents/Shortcuts into the new 1.3 feature in Actions for Obsidian — it's been waaaaay harder than expected).

Long, exhausting day but a good one. I solved the final puzzle on the road to Actions for Obsidian 1.3 — I found a way to make working with vaults much nicer while maintaining backwards compatibility (i.e., while not breaking your existing workflows).

Pretty happy with how the new version is shaping up. Now it’s time for some Star Wars!

Behind the scenes, the “‘Account' from Automation" field is an optional String, using logic that I already had that parses out the currency symbols.

Of course, if it turns out there's a way to get the entire Transaction with all the data in a single type (🤞), I'll just that, to make it dead simple.

I’ve been playing with an NFC tag in my hall linked to an #iOS #Shortcuts sequence that (among other things):

* Starts/stops Travel Focus, but not if Fitness Focus is active.
* Tells me on my way out if I've left a window open.
* Turns my bedroom lights on when it’s late in the evening (after choir, also play some ambient music to calm my brain).

Do I need this? No, it's a toy. Am I inordinately pleased with myself for setting it up? Yes.

(My #ShortcutsApp is full of this kind of thing.)

I’m currently implementing support for the Periodic Notes plugin. (It’s coming along well.) The idea is to replicate all Daily Notes functionality for weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly notes.

This time around I’ll add support for Periodic Notes, then I’ll look into triggering #Obsidian commands (i.e., connecting the Command Palette with Shortcuts), as well as improving vault management (I have some ideas but don’t know yet if they’re doable). Also, bug fixes.

There’s not *a lot* going on yet at the ActionsDotWork Forum but I dig it quite a bit already. My experience was right: message boards lends itself to better discussions. It’s like people sharing a ride on a long trip, having interesting conversations.

Discord/Slack is nice and all but it’s more like people on a bus shouting at each other during short hops. Friendly, sure, but shouting.
