It's ridiculously pleasing to see the rankings of Caitrin and Gem listed on the national (105 out of 306) and provincial (34 out of 137) #SASJ tables for the 90cm class in 2023!

The ranks are determined by points from places achieved in graded shows entered. Up to a certain plateau, such a position can be got simply by entering enough shows and jumping some clear rounds, and get a few places, as they have done.

Caitrín rode a magnificent clear round in the Championship, and so qualifies for the jump off in a few minutes. I don’t think any of us really acknowledged how many butterflies we all had in our tummies up to now! #ShowJumping

The friend who was going to give us feedback had an accident with her #horse, who reared and fell on a fence. I gather the horse is injured but not critically. But very much bad enough to scratch her entry and go to the vet 😢 #ShowJumping #equestrian

Gem is a big bay #thoroughbred who bucks with excitement a couple of times, and Caitrín is his capable and calm rider, wearing a show jacket and a long pigtail. She carries no crop and wears no spurs - they have that kind of relationship!

Caitrín and Gem are #ShowJumping at the SA Junior Champs, starting tomorrow. They're riding the 90cm competition.

They kick off the whole competition, because they are the very first competitor in the 90cm class! Caitrín's trained Gem to do a special salute to the judge. Because only the first rider in a jumping competition salutes, she hasn't had a chance yet to do that.
