Working on my #SHTF equipment - I have a proper RS232C port! And a CD-ROM and 1.44 Floppy drive! Hard disk still works; not sure if I could get a replacement or some kind of SSD. Plus I installed the last decent version of Windows! And Firefox v12. The legendary ThinkPad keyboard is incredible :) #RetroComputing #Prepper

I consume a moderate amount of #prepping media. Websites/forums, books, a couple of apps and podcasts.

It's insane to me how much of it is focused on #shtf and #bugout scenarios. I would say that discussion of EMP's outnumbers #climatechange by 5:1.

@booty ideally I'm only sharing my firearms with people I trust. It's part of my larger plan to get my local #socialistrifleassociation back in action by having extra AR platforms for people who might not be convinced they're worth it/can't afford one and I want to be included in events.

But also if #shtf I'd rather a whole squad be strapped than just me. It'd be really cool to practice standard gear across the chapter and do squad drills. But that's getting ahead of myself

I have stock piles of dried food that I use when camping so I can rotate stock, but I have enough to feed a dozen people for a week or so (I have printed out calorie and portion charts depending on crisis)

Multiple bags that can be used as bug out bags plus gear to stock them.

Also if you're #shtf prepping doesn't include a bunch of food seeds, you are not prepared for everything my friend.

Now to get a reloading set up

One of my biggest criticisms of #gunculture is the "fuck you got mine" mentality.

My old roommate was a gun guy before me and he often talked about how much he hated people who'd say "when the apocalypse happens in going to your house." Because he hated the idea of people mooching. And they should have prepared.

But I don't operate on that thinking. I'm looking at multi packs of KP-15s so that I can arm my community if/when #shtf

I'm targeting those unkept areas on the edge of those strips the huge powerlines cut through areas.

I bet those will be little pedestrian highways if #SHTF.

Where else would be good areas to target? Other wasted buffer or medium areas that if they get cut, it will be like once a year.

If you live in an inner city, this is probably how you receive goods and services:

You have treated water in your tap that is pumped from a reservoir system by electricity, treatments are chemical additives trucked or trained in from production facilities.

Food is, either convenience at the corner Bodega or a few blocks away from a grocery store, trucked into the city from distribution centers that receive it from truck, train or plane all which currently run on fossil fuels.

Heat is either gas, oil or electricity which is supplied through a central complex infrastructure unique to each.

Sewer waste is processed through a facility usually outside of city limits by means of underground pipes and catacombs.

Garbage and recycling is trucked out of the city to land fill sites and processing facilities often hundreds of miles away. Any disruption to any one of these systems, bridges, railways, roadways, pipelines, or the energy consumed by these systems results in a domino effect of failure.
This is only a small example of the complex structure of running a city with dense housing and population. Now imagine how easy it would be to disrupt any of these systems and the danger everyone would be in.
You can survive a disaster in a city but only with planning, strength, ability, knowledge and a huge amount of luck. Preparing for disaster is no joke.
Read Selco Begovic's book "SHTF Survival Stories: Memories from the Balkan War" Unless you've lived through it, you just don't know.

A co-worker of mine brought up a point. If #SHTF for real, electronic communications may need to be replaced with old-fashioned "sneakernet".
I could see USB drives with #TAILSos on them being passed from one cell to the next. . .

Started a #guns, #weapons, and #selfdefense channel in my local #trans group and in a matter of hours it turned into mutual aid network planning for when #shtf I fucking love these people

And if you think trans people can't do self-defense, holy shit you would not believe the armories some of these girls have!
