Decent horror flick with a couple of exquisite tableaus. Extremely unbelievable plot, but the film-making more than makes up for it. Nice combination of psychological horror, mystery, and cheese (which was brilliant since the movie takes place in 1954).

So far this week I have watched a few movies that everyone loved, but I was lukewarm (at best) towards at the time.

- significantly better than the British Army propaganda tosh I took it for on my first watch. "I'm staying...for the French" still made me cringe.

- A really well-made science fiction movie ruined by a fair bit of silliness in the third act (and some odd decision-making by the film's scientists)

@MevsMatze It's tricky because how do you define classic. My first thought would be, a film which has changed cinema but few have done that.







Are all films I enjoyed a lot.

There are some terrific movies in your list, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to consider any of them classics. I guess time is the only real test of whether a film is or is not a classic
