Little Bone Lodge: canāt say I wanted to finish up my #SIFF with a mediocre home invasion thriller that relies on cliches to fill out the plot, but here we are! Great festival overall, nonetheless.
Superposition: how high is your tolerance for unlikable protagonists? Excellent marriage drama slash doppelgƤnger horror. #SIFF
Sonne: in a very subtle way Iām reminded of Weāre All Going To The Worldās Fair. #SIFF
Burning Hearts: insanely histrionic Mafia flick from Italy. Yāall, what if we filmed the whole thing in black and white just to be more intense? #SIFF
Almamula: languid dreamy meditation on growing up, desire, religion, and the edges between civilization and the wild. #SIFF
Reviewing #eggheadandtwinkie at #siff (Seattle International Film Festival). Take a look why not now?

The in person portion of #SIFF is now over, and I'm happy to have managed 10 movies!
And thatās a wrapā¦ until I dig into the streaming program. P.S. to the #SIFF pass holder in front of us: we saw you pretend to save seats until the lights went down so you werenāt crowded. In a sold out theater. Poor form.
LOLA: clever time travel movie, sort of the Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow of the 2020s. I enjoyed it despite some lumps.
Played with Time Traveling Through Time, which sends up La Jetee and pretentious directors. Nice. #SIFF
Gloriavale: the Ready family are amazing people and Iām glad to watch any documentary exposing cults. The focus on the legal battle over discussion of cult dynamics felt like a bit of a wasted opportunity, though. #SIFF
Adolfo: Iām reliably a sucker for Two Mismatched Strangers Explore Urban Limnal Spaces Together After Midnight And Also One Of Them Is Quirky While The Other One Is Straitlaced. Set it in the unfamiliar (to me) space of Mexico City and Iām yours. #SIFF
Egghead & Twinkie: the kids are super-duper alright. Perfectly decent teen road trip movie and the representation makes me happy. Sabrina Jie-A-Fa has the knack of playing a self-centered character without being awful. #SIFF
Four Little Adults: itās remarkably cheeky to put the line āSnufkin in dragā in the mouth of an actress who played Tove Jannson. Touching movie, too. #SIFF
Itās Only Life After All: turns out the Indigo Girls are absolutely fucking fearless and honest. Didnāt hurt that the audience was primed to love them. See this. #SIFF
LāimmensitĆ : beautiful little drama about being repressed, in a couple of different ways. Almost too beautiful at times: when even the slums are perfectly framed in golden light, you lose some of the class contrast that could have been there. Still really enjoyable and sad.
One dude in front of me walked out. Seattle! #SIFF
