Paul Thomas and I will be serving as the first sustainability chairs of #sigir (2023-2025). We want to make IR conferences more earth-friendly. We are now looking into best practices from SIGPLAN, UIST, CHI, etc. but if you have any good ideas please let us know.

I guess it's time for an introduction. I'm a research scientist at Google based in Montréal where I work on the design and evaluation of machine learning systems, especially search and recommender systems and their broader societal effects.

I am confused: At the #SIGIR business meeting, the executive committee claimed that "all ACM SIGIR publications are permanent open access on the DL", but that is clearly not the case, see my attempt to download Bruce Croft's SIGIR 2019 keynote paper.
