Recently adopted a macro lens for my LUMIX S5 and honestly it's been an absolute joy exploring the world through a new perspective.

I'm not into focus stacking or maximizing depth of field though, quite the opposite. It's the shallow focus that I love so much, and working a composition from subjects at a small scale.

Was sooooo excited about the Grass-wren I totally forgot I also managed to spot a painted grasshopper (Monistria pustulifera)

I spotted their favie plant along the trail, and stopped to check out every bush just in case. This guy was in fine health and not particularly worried about my lens poking into his habitat. Note the vestigial wing, ornately present but quite lacking in function.

I have to share one more. This lovely lizard is a Long-nose Dragon (doing a little "hot rock dance" and lifting his legs alternately) was tricky to get close enough for the 105mm. But then I look at the detail and I cannot believe it. My eyes can't see any of this without the camera!

Also saw a fire-tailed skink in the wild today but was too slow to photograph that one :)
