Hmm a bit further with #sigrok but hmm; I've figured out it's 3 modes; 'live' is quite quick but gets the limited samples that I was seeing. 'memory' grabs the whole buffer - which on my Rigol over ether takes ages; and 'segmented' which is like memory but grabs it in chunks so you can start exploring while it downloads. Those get me full sample rate data - unfortunately their is something screwy going on with the concept of time so the USB decoder is completely confused in those modes.
Needed to capture USB signals so I can fix a USB device I'm trying to build, but don't have a logic analyser handy.
So I wrote a simple signal capture program I could run on a microcontroller board I made for a previous project: https://codeberg.org/gtw/responsump
Got it talking to #sigrok, #pulseview, and #wireshark and now everything works.
I'm glad not because this is a good logic analyser (it definitely isn't!), but because it's repurposing an old device instead of acquiring yet another gadget.

I got to use a hantek6022bl USB #oscilloscope with #openhantek and #sigrok #pulseview this week and I immediately sold my analog oscilloscope and I'm going to get one.
Its so convenient that it can fit in a backpack and is compeltely powred over usb. It also has way more features, like fft and math etc.
The fact that there are powerful open source drivers and software also eases my mind about software support since it has no screen and relies on the computer for output.

Here's abraxa's (@abraxa) #35c3 lightning talk on #sigrok.

Neat little explanation fit into such a short slot!
