The correct #Mastodon technical term is "#Silenced" not outright #Defederated

There is a significant technical difference between the two

If you're just getting on because it's a Saturday it might be hard to track down the threads where this distinction has been discussed

But it has

All too easy to just drop "Defederated" into the convo when everyone thinks they know what it means, but rarely use the word correctly

I just #silenced an instance operated by a person I appreciate that is focused on topics I appreciate to keep the posts from its users (who I appreciate) from appearing in my instances’ publicly visible, federated timeline because they may post stuff that can be considered pornography in my jurisdiction.
And I am a gay man who is absolutely fine with sex and #pornography in general and I think the other instance is very well moderated and a good place for its users to be at.
