It’s genuinely amazing how much detail shows up in the remastered video. Just look at Masahiro Ito’s drawing (and explaining how he designed the monsters of #SilentHill2). You'd almost forget that the original video resolution that recorded this was 720×576px 🤩

Tonight I locked the new graphics and color grading and can move on to cleaning up the audio. And with that it's finally complete! 😊👍

For my #SilentHill2 Making of remaster I needed a higher-res version of a still of Maria from one of the FMVs. The AI upscale was… nightmarish, so I had to get my (digital) brush and paint the missing details. 😅

I went down another rabbit hole tonight, installing Windows 2000 in a VM so that I can run Softimage|3D 3.7 from 1999 because that was the 3D modeling tool for #SilentHill2. Enjoy this Phong-y donut and goodnight, nerds!

70 followers · 384 posts · Server meow.socialI have started a long overdue play of #SilentHill2 on PC (with Enhanced Edition mods) and it’s so crazy how well this game holds up even after over 20 years. Sure the mod project helps in that regard but even from a gameplay perspective, the way it guides me through it’s crazy town while still making me feel like I’m totally lost, is a pretty great magic trick. Sound design and visuals are still awesome, too. They really don’t make ‘em like this anymore huh?
