Today's Guardian newspaper highlights a retrospective exhibition of Eve Arnold's work at Camera Torino, in Turin, Italy.

I was fortunate enough to have worked with Eve in the mid-1990s, printing 3 sets of prints for two concurrent exhibitions and an archive. She was one of the most gracious clients I've worked with, and every visit to her flat in London was enjoyable, and always involved cake. She kindly signed a 16x20" print of her famous Marilyn Monroe image for me.

Anyone interested in the making of photographic emulsions (or merely understanding how it’s done), I can recommend the Denise Ross' site http://www.thelightfarm.com, as well as her book ‘The Handmade Silver Gelatin Emulsion Print’.

Well, I guess I need to post a brief #introduction. I like #birds and I like #photography and I like to combine them as much as possible. I also make my own light sensitive emulsions and although I've printed #saltedpaper and #cyanotype in the past I now mostly print using handmade #silvergelatin emulsion coated on a variety of different papers.

Unexpectedly got to see a few August Sander silver gelatin prints earlier this month. It was such a nice surprise to stumble across them amongst other early 20th century German art at the St. Louis Art Museum. Standing in front a print is so so different from looking at a backlit monochrome image on a screen.

Guess I’m supposed to do an #introduction here. Currently living in #seattle.

Work in #infosec and #cybersecurity at a major firm specializing in the intersection of #malware and #threatintelligence so I spend a lot of time doing #malwareanalysis, #osint, and the like.

Love my work but also have a deep love for working in my #darkroom. I caught the #photography bug in high school, initially studied photojournalism, and have continued shooting documentary and #streetphotography throughout my life. I love disconnecting from a largely technical life and working to make #silvergelatin prints. If I’m not online I’m probably wandering the streets for hours trying to make something relevant by putting a border around it.

Also love #soccer or football if you prefer. I follow the #sounders in #mls and #westhamunited in the #englishpremierleague. Love ground hopping and try to link up with supporters whenever I travel and attend their games — preferably away days. Nothing like the love between supporters. If you’re a fan of a club, especially a community one, let me know and I’d love to put your city on my future travel list.
