Has everyone registered their SIM?
The deadline for SIM registration is on Tuesday, July 25. National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) says they will not give any more extension for it.
Pursuant to the SIM Registration Law, all unregistered SIMS will automatically be deactivated. This means that they will no longer receive and send texts or calls, they will lose internet access, and remaining balances in the SIM will be forfeited.
"Sabino warned the public against selling their registered #SimCards, which is already prohibited under RA 11934, or the #SimRegistration Act.
'The problem here for those who sold their registered SIM cards is that you are technically selling your identities to be used for fraudulent and criminal activities,' she noted." #Philippines

Several days ago, the telecoms regulator in the the #Philippines extended the mandatory #SimRegistration period for another 90 days, ending in July.
While researching the feasibility of cutting my phone, rather than submit to the registration, I stumbled on #WebCall for P2P #webRTC voice calls. An interesting option, when you don't/can't give away your number, and still do voice calls over the Internet.
Have you tried it? Calls quality is decent, and caller registration is optional.

https://new.globe.com.ph/simreg is some odious crock of scheiss. For "tourist" status, Globe (the #Philippines #1 mobile service) wants "proof of address" -- I can pretend my way through that one -- and then the next page they want a photo of my "departure ticket". That is where I stopped. That would cost me a lot of time, or a few dollars. This is comparable to BANKING #KYC. I will just let that sim die.
