outlook is a solution over gmail as outlook would be a non-google email client that can be signed in accross multiple users without signing in to all google accounts. so i could say to mother, please email me at this outlook address. but email is so old. it's missing so many of the features of a modern chat platform like telegram/microsoft teams. theoretically, facebook messenger/whatsapp are options/alternatives to telegram/teams but i would prefer not to use them, but i guess i could. i could say whatsapp to mom. which works on some planes.

draft - idea - I like login with google. it's very straightforward and easy. however, there are certain apps and certain times where a person may want to only "login only to this one app". and for those times, I think google should offer an option *in addition* to "Login with google".
something to the effect of "login only to this app". so for example, when logging into google chat, one might see two sign in options:

"login with google"

"login only to this app"

where

"login with google" is the current way where it logs the whole android system into that account along with all the other google apps, which is a good thing but there are times when you don't want that

and

"login only to this one app" where instead of logging into the entire android sytem along with all google apps, it would *just login to that one app*

draft - i feel like some google services like chat / docs should have a "sign in with microsoft" option because, for things like multiple profiles and such, on Android/ChromeOS, users may switch profiles specifically *to sign out of a* particular account and logging in with Google kinda defeats the purpose. But if they could partner with microsoft to offer a "sign in with microsoft" for Google chat, I feel like they'd be doing themselves a favor.

I think people are getting fed up with having all the apps: Twitter, FB, Tik-Tok, Instagram and the friction going between them all and not being able to find a friend on a given app.

If the Fediverse provides less friction - through new apps that evolve to support multiple services simultaneously along with #NomadicIdentity or #SingleSignOn - then I think folks will migrate.

The first is #SingleSignOn. BUT, most of the ActivityPub services actually have SSO as an option. At the very least, Mastodon, PixelFed, PeerTube, and I think Lemmy, have an option for OpenID-Connect. And HubZilla has it's own SSO approach (which I think is also OpenID based).

So it is POSSIBLE right now (or in the near term) to integrate authentication. Certainly, on the same server hosting multiple services.

Account creation complexity is an impediment to adoption.
