My current author site is something I built in 2016 with a static site generator that is no longer maintained and I've been keeping it together with toothpicks and duct tape.

While the SSG was built around having an easy blogging experience, every time I want to post, I have to pray that *this* isn't the time the build fails because Netlify version upgrades and/or no longer supporting the now very outdated versions of Ruby and dependencies. Which has happened once already and it took me 2 weeks and doing a lot of hacky code to get it to work again.

I want to switch to something new and I'm torn between giving I'm and doing a CMS / site builder, or finding a new SSG that is currently actively maintained and is either or .

I've looked at Write.as, and it is nice but doesn't allow the deep css customization I want. I dabbled with square space and found it overly bloated and with awful templates. I set up a WP and what the heck have they done, how did they butcher their builder so badly...

Anyway, I am looking for recs! Please assist. I want to write more short fiction and post it on my site. And praying to the code gods every time I re-build doesn't quite give me the high that it used to.

Hola livelloidi.

Grazie in anticipo in ogni caso.
