Here's my lovely Javanese Siter.

I read somewhere that they became popular at a time when higher-class bronze instruments were banned from use outside of the Kraton (royal palaces). There are quite a few YouTube videos of what looks like people busking, singing with a Siter.

I wish I could play it properly, but it's hard to find instruction in English.
