TIL my #Sixel takes a better #30SecondCommute video than my #Akaso. I also need to adjust or tighten the bands on my #QuadLock handlebar mount. It's not designed to handle a phone hanging vertically off the side.

I think there is some resistance in the #Gemini community to image support in Gemtext.
I don't think it is universal. (Some seem to want image support too.)
But there does seem to be some who are against it.
.
I think if one wanted to keep to the rule of one-document-one-download then —
One could embed the image inside the #gemtext file.
For example, base64 encode the image within the file. Could be a #dataURI. Or something else.
Could even use a #sixel .

@carcosa Apropos playing with code (not only on #cpm).
Using #xterm's #sixel graphics from CP/M is easy. But I haven't found out how to draw them in a way, that the image visually grows. Xterm buffers it invisibly until the end command for Sixels is sent and only then copies the result in a flash into the screen.
If someone has hints how to mimic the visible drawing like the original terminals did, pleas drop URLs.

> But Coffee, what on earth are #Sixel graphics?
👉 Did you know?
You can display actual #bitmap #images on the actual #console in selected #terminal emulators.
Terminals which support this include #MLTerm, #FootTerminal and #XTerm (after configuration). Support in #GnomeTerminal and other #VTE-based terminals is underway.

I made a page about #Sixel graphics on my home page:
https://open.source.coffee/sixel-graphics.html
About time!
It's adapted from the readme of the sixel-graphics project on my GitLab, and still very WIP. ("markdumb" currently doesn't understand literal blocks, among other problems.)
Hopefully I'll have time to improve it later, but it's a start.
chafa-1.8 enables sixels on foot by default.
If you prefer non-sixel output, try "chafa --symbols border+block+stipple+sextant+wedge" with foot >= 1.9!
Hi. Please enjoy this 1/4096th random* slice of the #Dutch province of #Flevoland, as a 500x500 #Sixel graphic.
Now with ways drawn and the y axis flipped so that North is Up.
Why Flevoland? It was the smallest osm file that could be downloaded for NL.

* actually the exact center of the dataset's declared bounding box, plus and minus 1/128 of its width and height.
Look what I did with my sunday night, right until the alarm went off and I was supposed to get up to go to work.

#foot 1.8.0 is out 🎉
Highlights:
* Grapheme shaping (i.e. emoji sequences)
* XDG activation support ("urgency")
* -o,--override command line option to set/override foot.ini options
* Much improved performance of interactive window resize
* Tabs are now preserved when copying text
* Blend sixels emitted on top of each other
... and lots more: https://codeberg.org/dnkl/foot/releases/tag/1.8.0

libsixel has been forked: https://github.com/saitoha/libsixel/issues/154
Let's hope development picks up. Really looking forward to transparency support.
#FootTerminal 1.7.0 is out 🎉
The big new thing is URLs - both auto detected and OSC-8 based URLs.
Another pretty big thing is that foot now renders box drawing characters itself, instead of using font glyphs.
We've also added support for transparent sixels, improved double- and triple-click selection, and more :)
