@augieray The entire global #Polycrisis with all of its parts like the #ClimateCrisis or the #SixthExtinction is heavily politicised due to the fact that any real solution must address the elephant in the room which is economic growth. We will only be able to come to working solutions if we allow the economy to shrink, but that will mean the end of #Capitalism if we don't want billions to starve just so that a few rich oligarchs can continue being rich and powerful.

@mcfadden Maybe you should start making pictures of the complex #polycrisis of which the #climatecrisis is just one facet. Another facet is the #SixthExtinction , yet another is #ResourceDepletion , and there are several more, each single one on its own more than enough to end human civilisation for the next 70 000 years or so. And at the heart of it all is #capitalism , the cancer of the economy killing us all with its economic growth. #Degrowth and the end of Capitalism is coming.

De Europese steur kwam veel voor in de Rijndelta. Rond 1900 werden er jaarlijks nog honderden gevangen, na 1920 werd nog heel sporadisch een steur "verschalkt" (wees er maar trots op, Kiewit en Tuin).

In de Rijndelta is de Europese steur uitgestorven, de laatste paar honderd leven in Franse rivieren.

@Julian_Invictus I'm pretty sure that _if_ humans are still not extinct a thousand years from now despite the ongoing #SixthExtinction , our time will already have become a Dark Age since few of our historical records will survive the end of the Industrial Age. Most of it is stored on digital media that deteriorate within decades and become utterly useless without computers, the rest is cheap paper that rots away within centuries.

@504DR @kkarhan It all depends on how many species vanish before the #SixthExtinction is over - if "only" 30-50% of all species vanish, Homo sapiens is quite likely to persist, if more than 80% of all species go extinct, well, in that case usually only small vertebrates survive, and unfortunately we are large vertebrates. Anything over +2.5K in such a short timespan makes a really bad extinction event very likely... 1/2
