"At Noon," Anna Ancher, 1914.

Ancher was one of Denmark's Skagen School of painters. a group whose style was a mix of Impressionism and Realism with their own touches. Skagen is a summer resort town and artist's colony where they gathered.

Ancher experimented with simple subjects, reducing interiors to blocks of color and shade, coming closer to abstract art.

From the Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen.
