(1/2) Just finished filling my current sketchbook with part 2 of my game, unfinished. My new sketchbook will have to continue the adventure, but that meant ending this one with an that would feel appropriate, is hero in deep trouble.

BTW I've been using highlighter markers to drop in shading and have images pop out, and loving it.

Some samples panels from

'Mark' was bit by a scary poodle and feels woozy. His new companion, Melgore (a religious follower of a forgotten god) leaves him to get help.
Between finishing Part1 and starting Part 2 I modified the progress tracking prompts and a new one is "Elsewhere" which is a great challenge, information I know, but my character does not.

Having fun playing with gel pens.

(3/3) note cont.

- One thing I still enjoy from my game methods are having a short countdown so that it can be shorter parts/chapters/issues. It gives a nice breaking place. I use variables for Trouble and Mission. When one hits 6 the current part of the game ends.

- Thinking about ways to have an engaging game with set amount of 'time' so as to fill up a sketchbook exactly to the end.

(2/3) Some other notes form the current sessions.

- Trying blocking with a cyan gelpen, then only using the black pen on key elements. I want to get a light color with a thicker tip to try as well.

- I always have nicer drawings when I am starting fresh.

- Always challenging to 'play' the NPC's and find easy ways to give them more random actions that still make sense. Probably will list 2 or 3 and roll on them.

(1/3) I have really been enjoying my current session, particularly since I have to really pause and think about what I want the character to do. Included, when witnessing questionable act by someone else, whether to stay or run, worried they will be blamed for it.

- I edited my prompts a while back. First time I have gotten 'ELSEWHERE' which means I know story that my character does now.

So play continued, but working from a built world definitely slowed things down for me, along with life and work distractions. (For me games are faster when I just have the world created as I play.) But the thrill of your game exciting you, making you imagine all the possibilities is super awesome.

54 pages of drawings and notes so far, an ending full of possibilities, and excitement to try new game techniques.

This is where an issue arrives using the entries, I play on the go and traveling with an extra sketchbook of drawings can really make my messenger bag heavy. Paper be heavy.

I did print a sheet of page thumbnails and a map of where everything was in the City of 'BellStorm', but referencing with out loading a webpage kind of slowed things down.

I also chose to not re-draw the locations again.

...the campaign continued with my usual random tables of scene prompts and progress tracking and stuff.

'Mark' had a run-in with a large delivery man, got forced to help with a delivery to the richest person in the city, use trickery and discovered mystery. All the while he has a reservation to a fancy restaurant, the reason for his vacation.

After setting up my journal, I establish the reason my character was in the city with custom tables (on vacation, first time visitor) I also rolled for a location and got a building with multiple businesses. I rolled to pick which business the character was visiting and it ended up being one that was just "business".

Mark now was visiting a friend who maybe was a bit shady.

Just finished the first 'chapter' of my current game and wanted to reflect on the experience. ()

In Jan I did one month of the challenge. In Feb I set-up my sketchbook and made a character based on a random location.

I played 'Mark Raker' a middle age man who is a bit of a trickster. He's on vacation in the city of 'Bellstorm' with one goal, to try the famous sea food at a well known restaurant.

One of my favorite I made for my games was a way to slow down and explore. I homebrewed something that I was enjoying to play (as simple as it was) but it felt at time like it was a video game where you just are running and doing with out slowing down.

So I came up with 6 x exploration where I use tables to establish details of a setting and how my character reacts. This gives me those personal moments that establishes character.

Since I am going to post it on Reddit, I will share it here too. Two sample spreads from my

My some what shady PC has to deliver a tincture for a religious group and get his friend out of their debt. He is going to be late for his reservation at an exclusive restaurant, which is all he wanted to do.

This week the worldbuilding prompt: Jan 9-31 Overview and Layout

No.29 - These last three drawings are adding things that I did not draw from prompts that I felt needed to be there. Here is the non-consortium area for processing giant sea creatures. This is the docs for everyone else in the city with a boat.
