uOffice (ultimate Office) is an #opensource #office #suite. It was originally my first piece of proprietary software, which quickly went open source (it was never released as closed source luckily) it is an office suite that focuses on high #customization, high #compatibility (compatibility with as many formats and systems as possible) high speeds, and #skeuomorphic design.

It supports an #experimental office format known as #UDOC which supports documents up to 16 exbibytes (2^60 bytes) in size. This was made to address my problems with the 512 megabyte limit in the #ODT format, and to scale the technology towards the far future.

The software is #128bit, but can run on #64bit machines.

It is written in #Python. It was originally written in #Java and #VBScript where legacy use still remains. It is a highly #incomplete project.

Despite being alpha, as far as I've tested, GTK3 and 4 are very usable. GTK2 needs improvement (although it's also usable), and I'll try to implement what I did in my ClearCrystal theme (https://www.pling.com/p/2013507/), which is a template model so gtk2 can at least be easily themeable. I'll look into what Plasma does for GTK2, actually, maybe it's the solution!

today's archival project is the companion #cdrom for the book "In Your Face: The Best of Interactive interface Design". it is full of dozens of #macromedia Director projectors highlighting award-winning websites, cd-roms, floppies and kiosks of the era.

Haha this is fun! I found some of my old circa 2003 - 2004 (age 19) personal web design sketches. I also happen to have an archive of most of my old static HTML websites.

“The Android Workshop" was my personal brand (Google's OS didn't launch until 2008). “Sci-Fi skeuomorphic” was my style, I was even doing some fun stuff with PNG transparency masks.

Might see if I can ML upscale "remaster" my best sites and host them for the fun of it 🤔

I’ve seen a lot of talk about #Skeuomorphic design recently, and I’m here for it!

Here’s a couple of screenshots from Courier for Mac. We built Courier at Realmac Software circa 2011, it was a file delivery app. Add an envelope and configure the delivery destinations (stamps), drop on your files, and hit “Deliver”. It was magic.

It even had a map to track your file delivery. During upload it used your IP address and the server IP you were sending to plot a route (that was also a progress bar). It was lovely app, but ultimately it never found a big enough audience.

This is my new theme Deeply Skeuo. It's based on another theme of mine, Skewaita. It's #skeuomorphic (that is, non-flat, mimicking real-life objects such as buttons and sliders), light but very easy on the eyes, with bright blue accents. Enjoy!
