Got chatting with the owner of a large garden centre, who used to be in the Scouts. He's donating loads of plants

A local greengrocer had a son in the group, he's also donating plants

The owner of a local brewery used to be in the group decades ago. He donates beer for events.

I am organising a Plant Show to raise money for a Scout group. Last year we made £1500. We aim to beat that this year.

Getting #plants to a saleable condition this early takes a bit of planning, and a network of 7 greenhouses - two of them heated and lots of window ledges. Luckily there's a team of great people who help with giving up green house space and their homes. Also taken over offices at work.

The plants are starting to arrive ready for the show...

@mirrorpolitics most scout groups have a procedure for assisting children from families in hardship.

Financial pressure must not be a barrier to young people joining in and getting #skillsforlife

The #Scouts Store Sale has appeared on my feed elsewhere (so some part of their rubbish algorithm was working) for a wee while now.

Naturally I had a look.

Scouts-branded board games wasn’t an obvious thing to be confronted with…and well Cluedo…

…I don’t know what to say…

Do we want to encourage the young people we are helping to have fun and get #SkillsForLife to dispatch Assistant Cub Leader Cheeky in the Library with the candlestick? 😜
