The fights are mostly low-stakes, Saturday morning cartoon level throwing, smashing, people fall long distances without harm, take at most scratches unless they vanish without a trace.
The Kong tribesmen story is OK, but weird: They're Spanish not African, friendly with Kong not terrified by him.

The dialogue is nonsense but sometimes fun:
"Are all boys as useless as you?" Boys: "Pretty much."

But it starts with a manic pixie ninja, and whiny teenager, shitty SCUBA guys, takes 20 minutes to get to any monsters at all. Then tentacle porn. Magical island which wasn't visible at all.
I'm beginning to think the writers didn't know much oceanography, biology, or writing.
