Sitting in the cockpit on the elevator up from the hangar deck. Thinking hard about what's coming. Not the launch - I've done that enough. Not even the recovery.

It'll be my first time being shot at. They'll be trying to kill me. So yeah. Nervous.

A few more minutes, and I'll be taking off. We're headed into North Vietnam. Well, I say we. I mean I. Me and a few wing-wipers for an escort. Hope they know how to use those F4s.

The lift engages again. Time to go.
