I checked some of the solar alignments on the Maltese temples. This is Ħaġar Qim's 'oracle hole' that the summer solstice sun shines through to illuminate a slab. #archaeoastronomy #SkyscapeArchaeology

An oldie (2005) from my archive - Achavanich stones in Caithness. It's one of the most unusual stone settings in Britain. The stones are set edge-on and almost make a rectangle. It's more like a Brittany-style cromlech than anything else. I'm sure that there's a lunar connection with those hills to the SW. #StandingStoneSunday #megalithic #SkyscapeArchaeology
