Ich habe am Wochenende meine #Skywatcher #AZ-GTi auf #EQmode umgestellt.
Gestern habe ich zum ersten Mal mit #KStars/Ekos ein Polar Alignment durchgeführt. Ich bin total begeistert, wie schnell das ging.
Im AZ Mode konnte ich bisher max. 5s aufnehmen, bevor die Sterne oval wurden:
Im EQ Mode sind mit meinem Setup jetzt mindestens 30s möglich. 60s scheint auch noch zu gehen. Aber dafür ist meine Kamera (ASI224MC) nicht wirklich geeignet.

Big project alert! This image is an area in Cygnus containing both the North America nebula (big blue area) and the Pelican nebula (bump in the top middle). This area is rich in OIII, which gives it a nice blue color with certain processing. This is over 25h of total exposure time across the two panels of the mosaic.

Bringing the science back into gamingnscience!

I am in the process of finding a replacement for my telescope motorset. Looking at the Skywatcher EQ-5 enhanced motorset.
I’ll be smarter this time and will pick a system which is upgradable to autoguiding.
Also researching off-axis guiding.
So far it seems a no-brainer to use with my light bucket Newton.
Anyone know a downside to using a seperate guidescope?

Messier 106 is one of the larger galaxies visible in the northern hemisphere and has an interesting fainter disk around a bright core. There are also a number of other smaller galaxies in the area that you can see highlighted in the second image.

Kudos to all the amazing people who make and provide all the equipment and software that allows me to basically push some buttons and take photos like the Cocoon nebula. The sky was hazy and smoky, and yet 86 x 60s exposures still pulled in the nebula. I am deeply grateful.

Been working on a #3Dprint lightshroud design for my #Skywatcher #heritage 150 #telescope.

This wasn't quite the final design, it had a gap between the parts at the highest joint, but it was 99% complete when this became apparent during the print. I'm out of black filament (more have been ordered) but while incomplete this was sufficient to finish with some cable ties.

Once fully tested I'll put the final version on #thangs.com

Ok, I'm shook! I decided to stick my #ASI120MC + 2x Barlow on my #SkyWatcher #HeritageMiniDob and try to photograph tonight's 10% #WaxingCrescentMoon. This is the best 50% of a 400 frame video. I can't believe this result!! What a fabulous little telescope 🥰

Does anyone on #Astrodon have a #Telescope? If so, then let's see it! Here's mine - a 1985 Meade 2080 LX3 OTA mounted on a Sky-Watcher EQ-5 mount. I still have the original Meade forks, drive base and tripod, but I find the EQ-5 is a lot easier to use, set up and do astrophotography with.

Okay, so this is the #CarinaNebula or #EtaCarinaNebula ( #NGC3372). A stunning, bright nebula near the #SouthernCross. It’s HUGE — larger and brighter than the Orion Nebula but doesn’t get quite as much attention because it’s most visible in the southern hemisphere.

My favourite region is in the bottom right — looks like a ribbon, and it’s beautiful.

This is a 9-panel #Mosaic taken using a #SkyWatcher #ED80 telescope in Ha and Sii, and stitched together with #PixInsight.

Total exposure time is something like 40+ hours.

@rsliva Thanks. I used a #skywatcher 250/1200 and a #zwo ASI 533MC-PRO camera. I don't think I used my 2x Barlow lens, but I should check the log again. My biggest problem is light pollution. #lightpollution

✨ORION under alpine skies✨

I had three clear nights under dark alpine skies in a row and decided to simply point my camera at the same thing every night. With over 9 h of exposure, this is the most time I've dedicated to a single photo so far.
