Yeah. We're at a private #SLAC here and insulated from, eg, state cuts. But a lot of privates (and plenty of publics) are also scared shitless of demographic shift & coming student shortage. So reluctant to invest in capacity while trying to preemptively grow. It's a weird & unpleasant multi-decade dynamic playing out now.

My wife is pre-tenure at a #SLAC, and the pandemic has stressed this system from top to bottom and deceased the overall value proposition. I'm generally wary of a "grass is greener" outlook, and yet...
