We had a super week with our friends and their kids, visiting lots of local lakes for walks, beach-time, swims and picnics. We had lots of fun days around our house too, with splashy pool time, garden treasure hunts, #slackline challenges, sports and obstacle races being enjoyed between long, lazy alfresco meals. Enjoying a few chill days at home before our next gang of visitors arrive (on Wednesday). Between maintenance jobs and the occasional #trailrun, we've gotten interested in #slackline and are trying to improve each day. Had a #cycle this morning scouting for a quiet place to practice and got set up in a small clearing in a local wood. Still a long way to go to get comfortable or competent, but seeing some improvement already. #France

Beim Taleingang kurz nach Andeer gibt es ein Waldgebiet mit grossen Steinblöcken, welche ein beliebtes Ziel fürs #Bouldern sind. Das erschlossene Gebiet heisst "Magic Wood" und erstreckt sich auf einer Fläche von ca. 250 mal 500 m.

Von der Talstrasse aus sind über den Bach in rund 15 Meter Höhe mehrere #Slackline gespannt.

Post-cycling late afternoon we used our ski-lift day passes again to visit the highest local point at Mont Lechat. From there we could again see the distant peak of #Montblanc and many paragliders circling around above and below us. We also attempted a practise #slackline but struggled to go more than a few steps - needs more work. We returned to the town via the chairlift & télécabine and had another #wildswim river dip to cool off, then pizza & beers to finish the day. #frenchalps #exhausted

After a few fails, my first soft shackle!
The material is HMPE (High Modulus PolyEthylene, also called Dyneema).

A quite fascinating material with strange characteristics. 10 to 15 times more resistant than steel, almost as slippery as teflon, very lightweight, can float, and melts at a quite low temperature (danger).

It’s very popular in sailing, climbing and industrial applications… and slackline too.

The shackle below is able to hold 5 to 6 tons before breaking(!)

On a fait une belle session de #slackline aujourd'hui, et ça m'a mis super en confiance pour le festival de #highline auquel je me rends à la fin du mois. C'est mon objectif depuis que j'ai commencé et ça serait la première fois que j'en fait, je vous dit pas comme je suis excité (et surtout, ce sera mes premières vacances depuis six mois, j'ai juste trop hâte)
