I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER (1997): At the time of release, having bought fully into the SCREAM hype, I avoided this one, hearing it a rip-off. Not true! This one avoids all the cheeky, self-referential horror humor and instead delivers a straightforward teen slasher (“hooker?”) pic. Was struck by what an all-star cast headlined this. I watched CANDY LAND (2023) and I have to say it's aces. The sex worker girls are humans worth knowing. The killer is interesting/compelling. The craft in this movie is well done. Feels like an R-rated episode of Peacock's Poker Face w/o Charlie Cale.
