The Oldenburger Burgwall in is one of the most important in -Holstein. The rampart was built at the end of the 7th century CE, making it one of the oldest ramparts in . Old even for the Slavs - in the 11th century it was referred to in their own language as Starigard "old castle". This term was translated into German as "Aldinburg" (Oldenburg), giving the city its present name. More: megalithic.co.uk/article.php?s

I'm thinking about a story/media to explain and antithesize the legacy of Christian missions and colonial culture — from present day, back to the roots of universalist religion missions and place-based religious cultures, and returning to the present *dis-placed* world we live in to explore we go from here. Can you recommend any people who would be good to collaborate on this? Anybody interested in collaborating or thinking through this together? (A big influence was the historical analysis around "God is Red" on The Red Nation podcast with @NickEstes and @NewAmauta: directory.libsyn.com/episode/i, as well as Vine Deloria Jr's "The World We Used to Live In", which led me to that podcast episode)

Moving on, here’s the real background (sources; history, and people actually from ) on why Yugoslavia is a poor model to use for Ukraine, and why some peoples initially greeted the Germans as liberators.
has been oppressing Ukraine and seeking to destroy her people, language, and culture for hundreds of years. was the center of culture from its creation until it was sacked by the Mongols in 1240.

Around the world, strange encounters can be made near crossroads.

Veles¹, a major god, can be summoned at crossroads by whistling at midnight.

In Japanese folklore, the Tsujigami is a yōkai that appears at intersections. There are also plenty of British creatures that appear by crossings.

In general, it is said that those are places where the edge between this world and the "otherworld" is thinner.

There is a whole Wikipedia article about crossroads and : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crossroa

In pantheon, Koschei¹ is Baba Yaga's male counterpart. They are representations of .
He is known as "Old Grandfather Winter" or "The Deathless", because he is immortal.

says he keeps his souls outside his body, in a very secret and safe place, inside an egg, so he can't die until the latter is destroyed.

There are many variations of this story, and the hero always has hard times finding the egg. Here is a classic example: “On a remote island, there is a forest with a circle of trees. In the middle, six buckets of water lie. Under the last one, there is wild boar. In the wild boar’s stomach, there is a goose. Inside the goose, there is an egg. In that egg, lies the soul.”

Often, the egg is contained in a goose, or a duck, which may be the symbol of goddess Siva², whose name means "life".
Could this symbolize the cycle of the ?

Also, they both are linked with snakes. 🐍🪿🥚

Interestingly, it seems Koschei was a harvest god which was diminished in tales to be an evil being, or giant.

An effigy of him, "Chuchilo" or "Chudo", is burnt to make way of Spring, but there are many traditions³ like this.

In January, the New Yorker staff writer Elif Batuman published an essay about ’s grievances against and his literary peers. In it, Batuman explores how great novels have been used to justify military aggression in the world, and contends with the moral weight of loving these books. She joins Tyler Foggatt to talk about Gilbert’s dilemma and to consider how should change our experience of art.
