For tonight's experiment, I'm going in the opposite direction. I'm going to bed as soon as I get tired. If I wake up in the middle of the night, I'll read or something. If I wake up at 4 am for no good reason, then I'll just get up.

I bought myself a salt lamp today. Not for any of the bullshit claims but because it's a pretty light. I've started listening to ocean sounds before bed and I think the pinky/orange glow will be a nice addition to my new routine.

Also for anyone I familiar with the term sleep hygiene is to do with your bedtime routine, sleep habits, sleep space etc

I went all day w/o using air conditioning. Turned it on around midnight because the heat made it hard to sleep, only to awake at 4:00 a.m., freezing.

Quick hack for better sleep if you struggle w/ Insomnia: Take a hot shower before bed. Your body temp drops when you leave the shower which facilitates sleep. Rapid decline in core body temp increases likelihood of sleep initiation and facilitates entry into deeper sleep stages.

Dear future self: please remember that working late—even if it you are in flow and hate to waste the opportunity and it’s fun and compelling—results in brain gerbils overnight which will keep you awake with cool and/or scary ideas. So please don’t. Or at least have 1 hour of some other activity before bedtime.

Before I retreat, then, I share that I avoid electronic screen use, save the alarm clock radio, two hours before bed, and keep my bedroom at a cool temperature. I also use ear plugs and a sleep mask.

I used to read before bed; these days I play on Board Game Arena while listening to episodes with my sleep timer on, or watch a few minutes of . I'm sure I'll cycle back to reading eventually.

I've always found it pretty easy to go to sleep, because, as I now realize, I intuitively know the exact amount of stimulation my brain needs to be blissfully comfortable. It may not be other people's version of but it works for me.

Having trouble getting to sleep before 3am. I have to get up at 7am every day. I get more and more tired through the week, sleep erratically throughout the weekend then it starts over on Monday. It started getting really bad right after daylight savings. Any advice?
