#ATI Rage Fury MAXX
當然我還是要強調一下
這邊說的是 PC 端的鼻祖
當然我也可能有遺漏

雖然早在 1998 年 #3dfx 就推出了 3D 加速卡 #Voodoo 2
並推出了 #SLI 技術使其可在兩張卡串聯的方式下運作
但真正第一張做到雙顯示晶片整合到同一張卡的產品
則是1999年的 ATI Rage Fury MAXX
串聯了兩顆 ATI Rage Pro 128 晶片
而串聯的技術正如其名
稱為 #MAXX
這個 MAXX 也被部分人認為是 ATi 以及後續 #AMD #CrossFire 技術的前身
而 3dfx 則是到了 2000 年才推出Voodoo5 5500
然而技術環境劇烈改變
已然不是只依靠核心堆疊就能追上跟其他廠商效能的差異
順帶一提
3dfx 後續被 #nvidia 收購
不過兩者的 SLI 技術
只有簡寫相同而已

不過確實事過境遷
這種堆疊實體 GPU 晶片來換取效能的作法慢慢變得罕見
過去都會有單卡雙GPU的產品做為旗艦商品
現在慢慢就沒有這樣的做法
甚至 #AMD 與 #Nvidia 也逐漸取消原有的 #Crossfire 或是 #SLI 功能
甚至 #intel 的 #ARC 系列原生就不支援這樣的功能
不過今天分享一個很酷的產品
#ASUS #EAH3850 #Trinity
相較於相當常見的單卡雙 GPU 的設計
甚至是非常罕見的單卡四 GPU 的設計
這張卡單卡三 GPU 可以說是舉世無雙
透過 #MXM 的方式串連三個 GPU 電路
再使用水冷來做散熱系統
當時算是相當超前的設計

Behold the beauty of 3dfx Voodoo 2 graphics cards in SLI.
In 1998, by connecting two Voodoo 2 cards together, you would experience faster 3D graphics performance, but also increase the max resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768.
Scan-Line Interleave (SLI) technology was first introduced on the Voodoo 2 for PCs and later when NVIDIA purchased 3dfx, they too started using the technology on their own GPUs.
