There’s a wonderful artist and teacher, Amy from Mindful Art Studio, who teaches classes on drawing easy, slow, repeating patterns similar to the stones I’ve been drawing. The activity is meditative and very relaxing. She has a free class an FB happening at 10am PDT today (that’s in about 25 min). You only need pen and paper. Inspired by Jennifer Roberts’ *three* hour challenge to her #art students (! - see: https://www.harvardmagazine.com/2013/11/the-power-of-patience / reference in Oliver Burkeman’s 4,000 Weeks), I spent an hour this morning looking at the mural Burning Patience at #SheffieldMuseum.

I was shocked how the time flew, and how much I was still noticing for the first time even at the end of the hour. Maybe I should go back for two more hours after all… #SlowArt

A Turrell Skyspace is a specifically proportioned chamber with an aperture in the ceiling open to the sky. Skyspaces can be autonomous structures or integrated into existing architecture. The aperture can be round, ovular or square.

Cross stitch is deeply meditative. Its slowness, its repetitiveness. The needle must move through the fabric 4 times to make 1 pixel. I can do less than a square inch an hour at this scale.

This is for my husband. I have been working on it on and off for a year, and still have a long way to go.
