At this point in my life, I’d be perfectly content to be reincarnated as a #slug. Crawl around, eat stuff, estivate when it’s dry, fuck a partner with your slow motion tentacle-penis while they fuck you with theirs. They’re simultaneous hermaphrodites, so that’s exactly what you’re looking at.
In 2020, when we all went crazy, I spent a few months wandering around the yard (in the redwoods) watching the banana slugs. They seemed to spend equal time eating and fucking, and I decided that wouldn’t be such a bad existence at all. These are leopard slugs, but they’re very similar.
This is, I think, the refractory period for them. When they first come together, there’s a lot of slithery motion, but after they’ve been going at it for a while they become quiescent. Hope it was great, y’all!
