On a motorway overpass, on the edge of Orlando, there was a gathering of around 50 #NeoNazis.

They were members of two #antisemitic, #WhiteNationalist groups - #BloodTribe & the #GoyimDefenseLeague.

Those present, all #male, were dressed in red & black & most had their faces covered.

They gave the #Nazi salute, chanted #antiJewish #slurs & waved #swastika flags at passing motorists.

I see a lot of people in #minority communities, especially young #queer people, worrying about the specifics of someone's interactions with people, their words, rather than how they affect the #political stage. Someone can talk "equality" all day, then vote for #fascism. Someone can outright use #slurs, but be eager to fight actual #discrimination.

I don't care if people "affirm" me in any specific way, or even at all, I just need them to be passively accepting of my basic #CivilRights.

Another obvious case is "All Lives Matter", which by itself seems a respectable concept (caring for animal/plants?), but as a retort to "Black Lives Matter", is a slap in the face. Kind of like saying "My son is sick at home with the flu" when someone says "My mother just died."
If they ask, "What's wrong with my statement about my son?" or "Don't all lives matter?" or "But you ARE cis-gender! I'm just sayin' is all", we reply, "You're being contextually rude."

As you point out, what is or isn't a slur depends on how people use the word/phrase, and what people decide it means. The classic case is "negro" which started out just being the Latin word for "black", but it came to be derogatory, so then they said "Black" and then "African American" and even "Persons Of Colour". Similarly, "Oriental" was used as a slur so they changed it to "Asian". I thought: Quit changing their name and just start giving them some respect!
