Another of the internationally important rare breeds which stretch back 5000 years and are unique in eating Seaweed, but they are incredibly vulnerable to extinction ,as the majority of the breeding stock are on North Ronaldsay,I doubt theres sufficient breeding stock elsewhere to protect it if that flock was wiped out by sea based disaster .or if the Dyke on the Island couldnt be maintained

Very suspicious of this esp as the big poultry companies have been pushing it .At the moment a significant sources of eggs is an assortment of small bird keepers giving neighbours eggs or selling at markets ,gates etc.The birds all live great lives ,usually free range ,get good health care,But with producers pushing egg prices up esp via supermarket rationing ,these producers stand in the way of a monopoly.
