Such a lovely winter day today. Cool but sunny. Taking a quick coffee break from work and sitting outside to enjoy both the drink and sunshine.
Afternoon motivation.
If you only live for the weekend then imagine how much time you could potentially waste away in a lifetime.
- think about it and do the math and quit being lazy and do better ๐๐ป

He whispered โI want your lips fluttering against mine as you sing that unstoppable songโ
And my heart was once again beating faster, lovingly wrapped in the warmth of his Words.

My name is so warm and safe
Falling from kissable loving lips
Fingers reading body braille

Zamia
Fireworks might be spark to start a blazing inferno
Hot, bright, maybe for a night.
Blinding and sometimes explosive
And leaving lasting wreckage.
Brilliance consumed, spent.
Sometimes the scars never heal.
There is much to be said in favour
of a slow, controlled, gradual burn: creating heat, cracking open shells of seeds dropped long ago.
This is how regeneration happens;
How wounded landscapes blossom and heal.

I have the kind of people in my life to whom I can address Very Important Questions.
โCan I take up residence in your brain, and if you then go about dealing with invasive weeds, can you help me minimise the hayfever?โ

I am wearing your t-shirt
Like a layer of armour hidden
Under my dress
I hope it will protect me
From the incoming storm

I never cease to be astonished that I am apparently the sort of woman who apparently inspires people to paint poetry.
Thank you for reminding me to view myself the way you see me.
Standing in a small town bakery
Leaning against you
Your hand on the small of my back
โฆ I could get used to this.
Me: That's cool. There are so many damned endearments that begin with A.
Marik: No there aren't, at least not in English anyway.
Me: Sure there are.
Marik: Can you think of any.
Me: *Ponders very hard, going through the list.* then triumphantly exclaims, "Asshole!"
Marik cackles with laughter and the conversation ends.

Contemplating at the lake. Small moments with a wooden bench. It was a morning in August and I took this with my macro lens. Just some old wood and the lake beyond. A #silentsunday moment.

It seems way too early here in New England but yesterday, we noticed the first green tips of the crocus in the sunniest corner of the yard already emerging upward. They really need to sleep a few more weeks under their bed of leaves. Unfortunately, it's the same spot at the corner of the fence where our dog loves to laze about on sunny days of winter. I guess dog and crocus have similar sun-catching goals. So now we face the conundrum of keeping the plants safe and the dog, happy. #smallmoments
We were working on 'Where I'm From' poems in class as a way to explore identity, family, culture and interests. Then students took a line or stanza to create a video montage (the other three classes did the same) of them reading. It wove together an evocative audio quilt of voice and words and connections. I won't share it, due to privacy, but the larger poem made from smaller parts was beautiful, and surfaced powerful connections that my young writers noticed afterwards. #smallmoments
Most days, I'm one of the first teachers in our school building. But the head cook is often already there before me, working her magic in the kitchen. On Fridays, she's prepping and cooking up cinnamon rolls for the student breakfast. The entire wing of the building (my classroom is near the kitchen) carries the scent of something wonderful in the air, and I swear, the kids arrive smiling and happier than the other days, as they stream into the cafeteria. #smallmoments
Taking walks with an elderly dog with a bad leg is a forced exercise in slowing down. He's more interested now in every smell than in making the distance. It's something I am constantly reminding myself of. I've come to appreciate the pace of our wanderings, and remind myself that we have nowhere to go as fast as my mind wants us to travel. Enjoy the stroll. Notice the surroundings. He's earned my patience with his love and companionship over the years. #smallmoments
I heard the rumble of the loud engine through the neighborhood the other night, a backhoe with no lights, led and followed by pick-ups with high-beams on. I registered it in my mind as the dogs and I watched it roar by but that was all. Yesterday, I saw what's what. At a house being renovated around the block, the backhoe and other machines have cut, cleared and removed every single tree off the property, leaving a gaping openness that has gives me pause whenever I pass by. #smallmoments
We were hiking a new trail. It was short but beautiful - a two mile loop path that wandered us through vernal ponds, pine trees lightly covered in snow and frost, and a collection of giant rocks left over from the Glacial Age. We met a solitary hiker coming our way, and then we met him again, and then, yet again for a third time. His quick-paced three loops equaled our meandering one, and yet each time, we met with smiles and greetings, a stranger in the loop of the day. #smallmoments
Pulling the Docks - based on selective focus and emotion. Every time I see this, I know summer is over and winter is coming. There is a certain ambivalence about that for me, because I love summer. I focused on those lovely bolts, what holds the docks in place. I think we all have these quiet moments where something "small" makes a huge difference.
