This pairs nicely with the video, credit to @ajroach42
”Big technology is extractive, oppressive, and a tool for indoctrination and radicalization. Small technology is technology for People."

@humanetech @hamishcampbell @activitypub I've got the impression that solid at the same time too ambitious and not ambitious enough.
Solid is just accepting that the internet is run by large corps and is just about protecting users' data better, and expecting corps to adopt it.
Whereas the kind of decentralization (not blockchain) the world needs breaks the corp silos and gives users ownership of both the data and the tools, i.e. #smalltechnology
Hi everyone! I'm brand new to the fediverse, but really happy I finally got around to joining.
I'll describe myself as a husband & father first, but after that as a geek w/ 20y of software development behind me and at least 20 more in ahead. I live in snowy Helsinki.
I'm of course interested in FOSS, but also #degrowth , #philosophy , #climatecrisis , #smalltechnology but most importantly endlessly curious about the world and people in general. :)

My interview on Small Technology with Kjerstin Gjengedal for the Alternativ økonomi podcast is now live. Questions in Norwegian, responses in English ;)

Happy birthday @aral, thanks to #SmallTechnology for building the tools we need!
Note: yesterday’s npm package was missing certain files from the lib/ folder due to the existence of a second package.json there (left over from the mono-repo refactor). That’s now fixed in version 1.0.1.
I’ve also fixed an issue with the example in the blog post.
All tested and working from a clean install now. Enjoy! :)

Site.js 12.10.0 is now out. This version brings with it automatic production server updates. Set up your personal server and then forget it, knowing that it will always be running the latest version of Site.js.

Ooh, would you look at that… auto updates of Site.js production servers are working ;)
Needs more testing, of course, but I feel I’ve earned my breakfast :)

Looking forward to speaking at the EU parliament, headlining an event by the city of Antwerp, and hopefully also speaking to some students in Kortrijk while I’m in the country in November and opening a conference in Warsaw in December. Deets soon :)
In case you missed it last night, Site.js—our stupidly-simple to use static/dynamic web tool for individuals (not startups or corporations)—now has live preview support for static sites to make your development process more delightful.

Site.js, now also on Windows 10

Follow along for a quick look at how you can create your own static and dynamic web site using Site.js in a minute or two.

So I'm not going to announce it properly until tomorrow but I've just deployed Site.js version 12.6.0, which adds Windows 10 support. If any of you want to kick the tires and let me know if the sky falls down or anything, I'd appreciate it.
It also has macOS Catalina support and a bit more polish in general across all platforms.

I asked Steve (@docbaty) at the after-party last night if he thought my opening keynote at @UXAustralia would lose him sponsors next year. His response brought tears to my eyes. Be like Steve.
“So if people heard the message that you said, Aral, in your keynote and their response was ‘well I want nothing to do with that conference’, well in all honesty, fuck ‘em.” – @docbaty
