The standard headlights on my Smart Roadster are dreadful on a good day (think candles in jam jars) so losing one is a major safety hazard.
A simple enough solution, although I did have to disassemble much of the front of the car to change them 🤦🏼‍♂️

@lyda @brayd yeah they’re optimizing for aerodynamic efficiency, not footprint. I was surprised when I realized how wide and long it is.

Still, I think it’s a good fit for my needs. I’m in the USA and regularly regularly drive 150mi, much of it on the highway.

Urban maneuverability first hasn’t been commercially successful here… can’t buy a #SmartCar here anymore. I’d love to see #Carver show up, but it’s EU only.

Saw this #smartcar while we were out this morning. Love the addition of the wind-up key!

So the #smartcar is running again. But the door latch sensor that informs the computer that the door has been opened does not. So, currently, the only key I own for it is in the car, while it cheerfully idles, with the doors locked. The "lock after X seconds if no doors open" so-called feature kicked in when I ran back inside. Fingers crossed CAA gets in!

Park the car Dec 29 running fine, start it Jan 3 and no start. I have a feeling this #smartcar is heading towards the scrap heap.

Caught this NYPD #smartcar lurking outside my office. This one belongs to the Citywide Traffic Task Force (CTTF), meaning it's staffed by one police officer as opposed to a traffic enforcement agent.

Before the pandemic, these were used for traffic stops, often surprising motorists. CTTF Smart cars are starting to appear in Midtown again, so maybe traffic enforcement is coming back?
