#SmartThings, on the other hand, is ideal for device control: it handles zigbee, zwave, matter, and thread, and much like Home Assistant if some device/brand doesn't want ot play, there's an entire community to figure out how to make it happen.

Admittedly, this may also be because while I got zigbee working through a dongle on my HA instance, it was such a goddamn pain and I had to check daily to make sure it was still there, whereas SmartThings, I can pair and forget it.

I have a QN65Q90RA, and I find myself turning certain features on/off several times a day, like eco-mode ("Ambient Light Detection", "Power Saving Mode") and I'd love to automate them with #HomeKit, #HomeAssistant, #Matter

I have a ton of Wi-Fi A19 RGB smart light bulbs that work fine, mostly from two or three different brands. I’m considering upgrading to Matter light bulbs, as I am tired of the latency with so many devices on Wi-Fi and want everything to be the same.

Is there some decent secondhand market for these? I could upgrade piecemeal but I feel like it only really makes sense to do it all at once.

I have successfully upgraded one of my Eve plugs to Matter and it’s all hunky dory in the Eve app and HomeKit but trying to onboard it into SmartThings is proving impossible. ☹️

I got sold on HomeBridge several months ago.

I am predominately a #SmartThings ecosystem, and needed to expand my coverage.

I spun up #HomeBridge in a container, and grabbed plug-ins for #SmartThings, #Miele, #NestCam, #HarmonyHub, #MyQ and #Ubiquiti #Unifi

Now everything is a bit more complete. My automations can follow me to my AppleTV, and IPhone. Bonus points that my garage door opener also appears on my CarPlay Home Screen too.

It’s important not to resist integrating across the various ecosystems, when you can make your life easier

For my friends still using #SmartThings, we only have 37 days until the end of Groovy and the migration to Edge is complete.
