With his history, it's probably a good idea for a 3rd party to pay the lawyers. He's got a history of stiffing people out of what he owes. Lawyers, builders, caterers, and many many more.
I love the framing of paying others' legal fees as anything other than a payoff for silence. That's how the flock gets fleeced.
