As of today, #SmashTunes has built-in support for keeping track of what you listen to on #listenbrainz. As fas as I know SmashtTunes is the only #macOS app that offers this integration for both #Spotify and #Music.

I'm using ListenBrainz since the start of this year, and have already discovered some new music through it. I think they are improving/ finalising their recommendation system. I intend to somehow integrate that as well, when they do.

I’ve started working on adding #listenbrainz support to #smashtunes. The general idea is pretty straightforward: automatic #scrobbling of #applemusic and #spotify tracks. Any other input on this feature is welcome!

I’m not building this for #lastfm. I’ve used lastfm in the past, but I’m not too enthusiastic about their current state.

Today a new version of #SmashTunes (https://www.smashbits.nl/en/smashtunes/) was released.

Here's what's new:

What you now can do is add #AppleMusic tracks to your library with a keyboard shortcut. This is possible for adding tracks to playlists as well.
Also new is that you can configure a keyboard shortcut for muting. You can set the sound volume to mute to. I guess it can double as a loudness function as well. This was added on request from a subscriber.

#SmashTunes makes it possible to add #AppleMusic tracks to your library or to a playlist. Since I added this feature, I mostly use this to easily add the current track to my library, so I can later listen to more of that album. It some sort of bookmarking for me.
I am missing the option to do all this via shortcut keys, so that’s what I’am working on today. Pleasing my inner user.

@frankreiff I just submitted a patch for my #macOS app #SmashTunes, I find it quite easy. What kind of things do run into?

A new version of #SmashTunes, was just approved by the folks at the #macOS #AppStore.

It adds the option to add #AppleMusic tracks to your #Music library. It can also add tracks to your library automatically when you give them a like.
And you can add tracks to playlists!

Quite nice features for quite a nice app, if I say so myself 😉

Yesterday I got an email from someone asking me if #SmashTunes (menu bar utility for #AppleMusic and #Spotify) was available for #macOS Catalina.
Due to the use of APIs that are not available on older versions of macOS, I dropped support for those version, but it made me think that that's kind of a shame. So I sat down, did some minimal coding and created a "retro" version. An old version that misses new features, but still works on older hardware.
