#Microsoft vuole aumentare la sicurezza di #Windows nelle edizioni #Pro disabilitando l’accesso #guest al protocollo #SMB. Il cambiamento è visibile in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25276 rilasciato questo mese.

Alcuni anni fa, #Microsoft ha forzatamente disabilitato il protocollo #SMB1 nelle ultime versioni di Windows, causando disagi a molti utenti. Ora le modifiche riguardano i protocolli SMB2 e SMB3.

P.S. If you made it this far and are wondering what wsdd2/WS-Discovery is all about: #Microsoft broke discovery of LAN devices when deprecating #SMB1.

WS-Discovery is their attempt to "fix" this, and is basically a competitor to #Bonjour / #Avahi / #Zeroconf (why couldn't MS have just used that?).

Unfortunately it means only devices implementing WS-Discovery are visible in Windows 10/11's network browser.

Fortunately there's a #FOSS utility named #wsdd2 that implements WS-Discovery on Linux.

Le problème est que le protocole #SMB1 a été déclaré obsolète et #PersonaNonGrata par #Microsoft pour #RaisonDeSécurité.

Il y a quand même un moyen pour récupérer l'accès le temps de planifier l'acquisition d'un NAS ou de l'actualiser :
