Air pollution kills 3,200 Australians a year.
"Air pollution is the world’s single greatest environmental cause of preventable disease and premature death. In Australia, it’s linked to more than 3,200 deaths a year at an estimated cost of A$6.2 billion."

"Decarbonising transport will improve air quality as well as reducing emissions."

End
Killer mobility (Bushmaster like combustion tanks: SUVs)
Treating the Earth's air/atmosphere as a tip
Slash and burn 'plantation' forestry
Burning everything down before it might burn culture

Wildfire smoke and climate change are locked in a vicious circle: Fires worsen climate change, and climate change worsens fires. Alejandro Lazo of CalMatters has four things you should know.

You'd have to be a fool to intentionally plan to develop or

You'd have to be cruel to intentionally harm children

You'd have to be ignorant to *want* to tobacco

You'd have to be ignorant to want to inhale traffic & wood smoke air pollution.

And yet, many people do want to smoke & do want to own combustion engine vehicles & wood stoves

When people are not acting in their own best interests, we need to ask who is misinforming them?

models predicted this reality as global temperatures rise. Hotter, drier conditions, coupled with dry grasses and underbrush that accumulated over decades of fire suppression, have made large wildfires more common. Computer simulations of the future in a warming climate show more days, higher concentrations, larger burned areas and higher emissions – which further fuel .”

Calgary has been blanketed by smoke for nearly three full weeks this wildfire season, already surpassing the previous record set in 2018 and obliterating readings that were considered normal in previous decades:

Future-proofing Australia in a climate emergency?

"In 2019-2020, the Black Summer fires killed or displaced three billion native animals, burned an area equivalent to Belgium and hospitalised thousands from smoke pollution...It also doubled the nation’s greenhouse gas output."

“Never has the destructive force of climate change revealed itself so widely across the globe, and the explosion of climate-fuelled d i s a s t e r s has given billions of people a f i r s t - h a n d u n d e r s t a n d i n g of their ferocity — and impact,” says Council on Foreign Relations climate fellow Alice Hill."

“Like a world war, climate change is a threat to people, law and order, stability, quality of life, the economy and health infrastructure,” she says. “But it’s worse. The extreme events caused by climate change have other impacts.” The ANU’s Head of Disaster Solutions, Associate Professor Roslyn Prinsley, says Australia desperately needs a national Disaster Resistance Authority."

"The Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority has warned Australia must invest $3.5 billion each year to limit the damage from increasingly frequent natural hazards...What they suggest is that simply responding to disasters after the fact is likely to cost 11 times more,” Prof Prinsley explains."

"But future-proofing is not politically popular. In the 20 years to 2022, $24 billion was spent on disaster recovery and relief efforts. Only $510 million was spent on resilience projects."

Killer logging fires might just shorten your life
Increased traffic, dust
Road building machinery powered by fossil fuel
Heavy logging machines spewing fossil fuel exhaust
Repeated forest slash and burn fires with lingering smoke for months and months.
A dryer forest more prone to catch fire and accelerate climate disruption.

"Respiratory experts have called on the EU to lower its regulatory limits for air pollution in line with the World Health Organization (WHO)."

"They added that the impact of the climate emergency and human health had become interlinked and was now “irreversible”. An increase in pollen and other allergens as well as wildfires, dust storms and fossil fuel-based traffic all worsen existing respiratory conditions or can create new ones, the authors wrote in the peer-reviewed paper."

"Air pollution is estimated to have killed 6.7 million people globally in 2019 and 373,000 in Europe, with greenhouse gases and air pollution sharing many of the same sources."

seriously believes that secondhand wafting over from a park next door is going to effect the minds and abilities of players at the in . This level of panicked stupid hasn't been seen since the first t-shirt came off the press. This is what happens when you work for a network whose audience is almost exclusively made up of elderly white racists.
