Just completed - not installing - but actually adding the #ZWave combo #smokedetector /CO2 detector (yes, @TechConnectify: Photocell) to my Z-Wave controller, instead of just relying on the sound of it to alert me.

Now they all text me & my husband if there's a fire - in case we're out of the house.

We have a dog. This way we can call a neighbor to get my pup out of the house should the need arise.

Don't know why I didn't do this before. Thanks for cajoling me to test, @TechConnectify! ❤️

Every 9-volt in my house growing up had two phases to its career:

1. My mother installing it in the smoke detector.

2. Me deciding Mattel Football was obviously more important than some smoke detector.

I actually have a #Xiaomi #smokedetector that you can silence with a command that flows from #alexa #googleassistant or #mycroft via #openhab (And a few other components on the way) - The same could be done via #homeassistant. It could allow me to turn off the #burglaralarm if it recognises my voice.

The highest #SmokeDetector in the ceiling starting to chirp at 2 am asking for a battery replacement, and having to get the ladder from behind a car in the garage, trying to not wake up everybody else, is the highlight of my last night.

At least I had batteries available.

Though I'm not superstitious, I do sometimes think of horrible things that can happen to people.

Today seems as good as any to check to see if you have a working #smokedetector and #carbonmonoxide detector.

@wheatnoil I have gas in the motorhome. When that sucker goes off, it wakes the dead. Unfortunately, being an RV, it needs batteries since I'm not always plugged in to shore power. I'll have to check all the alarms tomorrow.

12:06am wake up with the smoke detector going off. No fire or anything I could find Now 2:20am, can't sleep. On the local neighborhood page a number of neighbors have complained about malfunctioning smoke detectors. It is disconcerting to have this happen in the middle of the night. #smokedetector

My smoke detector is beeping randomly. I've asked around, and it seems it's time to replace the battery.

But he's pretty easy to get along with. (We did not raise him to assume he was The Princess. 😂 )
