@pixelfed

Part of unleashing the concept of personal freedoms, is dependent upon the notion of personal infrastructure.

The IBM 5150 Personal Computer w/64K of RAM on the motherboard and a DIN connector interfacing a cassette deck with Microsoft ROM BASIC was one such innovation (as opposed to S-100's) that brought such freedoms to people in 1981.

Now, we enable to migrate from silo mindsets to that of the ...

Thank you !

@steeph, that part of the web exists, it’s just hard to find because it’s generally non-commercial. I think all of those hashtags work, but I really like .

I definitely have found a lot more interesting smolweb projects and websites since I’ve joined the fediverse.

In conclusion of discussions here, XHTML basic 1.0 seems to be a very good candidate to certify websites as members of

w3.org/TR/2000/REC-xhtml-basic

- a subset of XHTML for various screen size with low capabilities
- optional css
- xml format (easy to parse)
- no useless tags
- no script
- no inline style

Are there any volunteers to create an informal group to promote a
based on compatibility with a simple HTML format (certainly based on xhtml basic 1.0).

RT is welcome 🔄

Hello! pulkomandy.tk is now XHTML 1.0 basic in order to support @adele 's efforts for an HTML-based

I had to fix several mistakes to get it XHTML strict first (it was supposed to be, but I broke things). Then it was just removing inline styles (which were mostly bad hacks anyway)

Bonjour! pulkomandy.tk est maintenant compatible XHTML 1.0 basic, merci à @adele qui essaie de lancer du "small web" en HTML!

@wakame
Nowadays, hardware resources of our devices are essentially used to manage bloated websites.
If we can incite actors to return to a lighter web or , small devices (old pc, old smartphones, retro-machines, small boards...) could be usable.

Promoting a standard, also compatible with actual browsers, would be virtuous.

and are not reasonable options, but something with forms, tables, colours and all that html 3.2 proposes is.

The innocence we lost with corporate clouds.

“With codex and hypertext alike, to get the word out, one has to copy it so that identical physical objects can be sent over a large area. A World Wide Web document, on the other hand, exists fully only in one place-on the World Wide Web server where the author (or document owner) has placed it. The work of art thus regains a sense of place.” (Aarseth, 1997, p. 88)

This is the part I love most about the . The re-rooting in a material reality, being attached to place and people, having responsibility and accountability.

One of the good things of the and is, that the search engines actually take permanent redirects and gone replies seriously. So after one crawl, you can remove those entries from your server config and don't have to carry them along for decade like on the web.

I've taken up again. I do mostly stuff so it's either that or Python, and I'm not really fond of Python.

I had almost forgotten all the pointer-twiddling, which was a "fun" experience to reacquaintance with, but I had rather left forgotten. But I managed to code together a little timer-app, and also contribute some bugfixes to the / / browser Kristall: github.com/MasterQ32/kristall
