Today I bumped into this old article about #SnakeOil. Turns out that the association with fraud wasn’t the Snake Oil, but that grifter salesmen were selling concoctions that didn’t contain actual Snake Oil but fraudulently claimed it did. The real stuff evidently would be used to soothe aches and was effective. 🤷
