After looking more into #TrueNAS Scale, I decided to just stick with #Snapraid + #MergerFS for my Plex Media. I like having the ability to mix and match drives and easily expand my storage.

I have never understood why RAID is so much more popular than SnapRaid.

Heute habe ich damit angefangen, mein iCloud Drive abzuschalten. Mir ist einfach datenschutzmäßig unwohl dabei alle Dokumente und Schreibtisch in iCloud zu haben. Der Komfort, seine Dateien auf jedem Computer und immer im Zugriff zu haben ist aber eben unglaublich geil.

Ich habe nun Syncthing, was ich schon länger für manche Ordner genutzt habe, auf die Dokumente und den Desktop ausgeweitet. Dazu habe ich erst mal Syncthing per Docker auf meinem Heimserver installiert. Dann habe ich nach und nach alle benötigten Ordner eingefügt und nun habe ich alle 50GB Dokumente und jeden wichtigen Ordner auf jedem Computer (Backup per TimeMachine) und auf dem Server, wo SnapRAID vor Datenverlust schützt.

I'm curious whether I could drastically improve the filesystem synchronization of my loom file indexer by loading the inode reference for found files. Comparing the edate and inodes stored in the database should be enough identify and determine whether a file has not been changed. Currently I have to load a xattr to fully identify the file. Using inodes could be way faster. I think #snapraid does utilize this approach too.
