Remember, when the fresh snow flies in your city, it reveals how much we’ve over-designed our streets for cars making them faster & more dangerous, and how much space we could reclaim for people and public life. We call them #sneckdowns. HT @fietsprofessor

With much of UK carpeted in beautiful snow, do look for #sneckdowns, the tracks which show how many streets don’t need so much space for cars.Places in which it’s easier to walk & cycle tend to be more prosperous. GIF via @fietsprofessor & @BrentToderian

Is there still #snow on the ground with you?
Go and have a look for some #sneckdowns
The places where people actually walk and traffic actually flows.
Then design a better street layout.

Me in 2018:
"The sneckdown photos are great, but they also rely on the fact that far fewer people are driving and so as well as showing the space which could be released, they indirectly show us that we need traffic reduction to release the space".
