Snegurochka is the Russian variant of a "snow maiden" archetype of character, first imagined as a young girl made from snow by an elderly couple and later upgraded to being a granddaughter of Ded Moroz (Russian Santa basically) and his constant companion on all kinds of New Year parties :blobcat:
